The Seven Senses - No. 2a. Sound

Two weeks ago we explored the sense of sound, but here’s another idea for that sense which we enjoyed … Its just like hide and seek, with a slight modification. You need a minimum of two players. One child takes a whistle or blower and goes to a hiding placWhistle_blower e. The other people playing count to 20 or so, and then shout the usual ‘coming coming ready or not, keep your place or you’ll be caught’. This is the cue for the child hiding to give a short loud hoot on their whistle which sends all the other participants running in the general direction to find their hiding friend! A great deal of giggling and excitement ensues (or at least it did in my garden!). Usually the seekers overshoot the hider, and a 2nd or third toot on the whistle is required for the seekers to hone in. My children adored this game last week and have wanted to play it every day since, in and outdoors!

I love your senses series - will definitely try this one out with Amy once I can locate a whistle!
